Changing the Link Description (Cloud)

What it is: The ability to customise the label (disclosure description) that a linked trial balance account uses in the Annual Financial Statements, overriding the default link name.

What it's for

The default description for each link number comes from the Draftworx template. Clients may need a different label in their published financial statements — for example, "Motor vehicles" instead of the generic "Property, plant and equipment class 1". Updating the Disclosure Description here changes what appears on the face of the financial statements and in the related notes without affecting the underlying link number or amounts.

How to do it

There are two equally valid methods:

Method 1 — Directly on the Working Trial Balance grid

1. Navigate to the Working Trial Balance.
2. Find the account whose label you want to change.
3. Click into the Disclosure Description column for that row and type the preferred description.
4. Press Enter to save.

Method 2 — Via the Link Account pop-up

1. On the Working Trial Balance, click the blue Link Account Shortcut Icon next to the account.
2. In the pop-up, locate the Disclosure Description field.
3. Type the preferred description.
4. Click Select to save.

Both methods update the label immediately and the change is reflected wherever that link number appears in the financial statements.
